This small and simple tourist site, located downtown in the basement of the Commerce Building, takes less than an hour to tour. Its tall blue tanks feature more than 250 species and 1,700 specimens of aquatic life, including Japanese carp, American alligators, nurse sharks and green moray eels. In the touch tank, you can pet horseshoe crabs and other non-carnivorous creatures. Special events throughout the year include Shark Day, held in late July or August. -- Jamy Bond

Terrible
This place is VERY small I was very disappointed. It shouldn't cost ANYTHING to get in here.
Add CommentNot that great...

It is SO small, and for $19 bucks total - it was not worth it. It kept my 3 yr.old's attention but my 10 and 13 yr. old's were pretty bored. Maybe I'm a snob coming from Chicago (after seeing the Shedd). BTW, there is no comparision to the sea horse exhibit-or anything else in the D.C.aquarium vs' Chicago. Give me a break. The people who work there are friendly, and that was nice.
DCZ Elect's Review
My kids thought it was ok. We thought it was not worth the $3. we paid to get in. For a National Aquarium it was terrible. I would not go back again or tell anyone to go there. The staff was nice, but that was it. The tanks were small, not much to see. Not at all what I expected to see. I think they better put some more money into this place. Its very sad.
